GED Classes
Portland Community College- YES! Program
Combines GED classes and college and career readiness. GED tests can be taken on-site. Must be 16-20 yrs. old and live in one of the following school districts: Portland, Beaverton, Tigard-Tualatin, Lake Oswego, Hillsboro or David Douglas. Courses are offered PCC SE Center, Cascade, Sylvania, and Rock Creek.

Project YESS is a youth education and employment program designed to help you prepare for the GED examination, establish career goals, find a job and transition to college or advanced training opportunities. Open to out of school 16-21 yr. olds living in Multnomah County and meeting income recquirements.

They provide GED instruction, career exploration and a broad support system so that all students have the ability to reach their career, educational and life goals and are empowered to positively impact their community. To enroll, students must attend an orientation, take a pre-test and attend evening tutoring labs. Once enrolled in the daytime program, classes meet Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and one hour per week with an individual tutor.

PYB provides help in getting a GED or diploma while also giving training in construction or technology and leadership development. They accept youth 17-24 years old who have not graduated. They hold an informational meeting at their site every Thursday 12:45-3:00 as a first step to becoming a student. Check their website for criteria and details.

Their Alternative school is geared towards working with homeless youth to prepare them for the GED, re-enter high school or obtain the necessary credits to receive a diploma. Additionally, the school provides tutoring, computer training, college preparation and placement, and financial aid assistance.
